Seventh Circuit Rules That Sexual Orientation Falls Within Protections of Title VII Featured

On April 4, 2017, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals issued a highly anticipated en banc decision in Hively v. Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, holding that sexual orientation falls within Title VII of the Civil Right Act of 1964’s definition of sex.

In reaching this decision, the Seventh Circuit becomes the first federal appellate court to find that sexual orientation is a protected category under Title VII. Read more here.
