DOL To Appeal Ruling Against Overtime Expansion Featured

The Department of Labor (DOL) has appealed a Texas judge’s decision to block an Obama-era rule that extended overtime pay to approximately 4 millions Americans.

According to the DOL,  the department will ask the court to hold the appeal in abeyance so officials have time to rewrite the rule. The DOL is defending its authority to create the overtime rule, but not the salary limit set by the Obama administration. Critics of the rule said it raised the overtime threshold too much and too quickly by raising the required salary threshold from $23,660 annually to $47,476 annually. Read more here.
